Privacy

BeenYet is a personal map of places you've been and want to try. Here's what we keep and why.

What we collect

When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile photo. We use them only to create your account and show who you are signed in as.

Everything you add (places, โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘Ž ratings, notes, visits, receipts) is stored with your account so you can see it on any device.

Who can see it

Your map is private to you. If you add friends on BeenYet (you both have to accept), they can see the places you've rated and your rating: โค๏ธ (which also shows up as a recommendation for them), ๐Ÿ‘ and ๐Ÿ‘Ž. They can see what you ordered at places you โค๏ธ or ๐Ÿ‘, and your notes only on places you โค๏ธ. Places you haven't rated, your want-to-try list, your visit dates and counts, and notes on any other place stay private. Anyone who opens your profile link sees only your name, photo and handle. You can remove a friend at any time.

Receipts

If receipts are turned on for your account, a receipt you upload or forward to your BeenYet receipts address is read automatically to find the place, the date and what you ordered. The original is kept privately with your account so it can be re-read, and you can discard it at any time. Amounts are stored only for your own records and are never shown to anyone, friends included.

Sign-ups

New accounts may start on a waitlist. If you sign up through a member's link we record who invited you.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, show ads, or share it with anyone. Maps use OpenStreetMap tiles and place search uses OpenStreetMap services.

Deleting your account

Email hello@beenyet.com and we'll delete your account and everything on it.
